Want to work at an independent publishing company that does things differently?

Customer Service Assistant (initial six month contract)

We are Iceberg Press (read more here) and we publish The Simple Things, a monthly magazine about taking time to live well (thesimplethings.com), and we sell lots of other independent magazines on our website, picsandink.com

Unlike many magazines, we believe in looking after our readers personally and so we have an opportunity for someone to work with us taking care of our subscribers, sending out magazines, dealing with reader queries and generally helping out. For now, it is a jack-of-all-trades role with a huge learning curve.

The role is on an initial six-month contract, to help us through our busiest period over the winter, particularly in the run up to Christmas. Starting in September, the role requires you to be in our office in Oxted, Surrey five days a week, full time. It also requires you to be fit enough to be able carry bags of post and boxes of magazines. The role involves handling reader enquiries, managing our subscription database, dealing with magazine orders and payments, general office admin, and lots more besides.

Interested? You’ll need to be organised and good at managing your time; a self-starter and problem-solver who is technically competent and meticulous; a friendly communicator who can help our readers with queries and information, and ideally you would be familiar with and active on social media. Knowledge of Excel and a degree of computer literacy is required. It also helps if you enjoy talking to our readers – you will, they are lovely. Past experience in a customer service role would be desirable.

We’ll pay you a salary (London Living Wage), we are a small company and you’ll learn about the business of running a magazine, contribute to shaping what we do, and get the satisfaction of being a key part of a much loved, beautiful, useful, quirky and fun magazine. You’ll even get your own desk and Mac!

Interested? Send a covering letter and your CV to david@icebergpress.co.uk no later than Monday 4th August.
