We currently have two (yes two!) vacancies at Iceberg Press:
Want to join an independent publishing company that does things differently?
We are Iceberg Press (read more at www.icebergpress.co.uk) and we publish The Simple Things, a monthly magazine about taking time to live well (www.thesimplethings.com) and Oh Comely, a bi-monthly magazine about arts and culture (www.ohcomely.co.uk).
There’s an opportunity for someone to join us as a Publishing Assistant to help run our subscriptions and customer service operations. For now, it is a jack-of-all-trades role but with prospects – as we grow we want to you to grow with us. We can promise you will learn a lot.
The job is full-time and based in our office in Croydon. It includes handling reader enquiries, managing our subscription database, dealing with magazine orders and payments, organising renewal campaigns, general office admin, research and creating digital and social content.
Interested? You’ll need to be organised and good at managing your time; you will get a real kick out of helping our readers and offering customer service that is a million miles from a call centre! You’ll be a self-starter and problem-solver who is technically competent and meticulous; a friendly communicator who can help our readers with queries and information; a creative thinker and curious researcher who is active on social media and interested in digital marketing. And most of all you’ll need to have a real feel for our magazines and what they stand for.
We pay a living wage and we are a fun company - you’ll learn about the business of running a magazine, have the chance to widen and sharpen your editorial skillset and get the satisfaction of being a key part of a much loved, beautiful, useful, quirky and fun magazine.
If this sounds like a job you could enjoy, then drop us a line with your cv and tell us why (David@icebergpress.co.uk). We want the right person to join us as soon as they can so get in touch before 1 June.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
We have an interesting opening at Iceberg Press. #GuyForeman, Co-Founder and Commercial Director, is leaving and we need someone to fill his sizeable commercial shoes ... No recruiters please....
We are looking for someone to take over many of the commercial revenue responsibilities across our two magazines, Oh Comely and The Simple Things.
This is a wide ranging brief at a young, lean start-up – so you’ll need to be flexible, committed and most importantly full of ideas about how we can grow and continue to find new ways to monetise our growing audience. You’ll work closely with the two remaining Directors to help develop the business.
The role will involve selling ads (display, promotions, digital) to our existing client base, managing and working with an external sales house on inserts, but the heart of this role will be about growing our commercial revenues by finding new advertising partners, conceiving new commercial products to sell and finding new ways to make noise and cut through a crowded and confused market. We are small, so you’ll also be responsible for invoicing, chasing copy and payments for the revenues you generate.
You will have worked in media already – at a media owner or agency at senior sales/manager level – and be able to demonstrate your ability to make compelling sales arguments (you’ll need to demonstrate how you have already done this). You will understand our brands, you’ll feel for and care about printed media, and you’ll also want to change things.
If you are not dissatisfied with the way our industry currently works and you can’t think of better ways to sell advertising and marketing solutions and cut through the everyday, then this isn’t the role for you. If you are and you can, then this is a unique opportunity to come and help us build something quite special.
We’ll offer a sensible basic salary with an open-ended bonus scheme – we want to grow and we want you to have a share in that. The role is based in our Croydon offices (20 mins from Central London).
If you’d like to apply then send your CV and covering letter explaining why this is the job for you, to David@icebergpress.co.uk by May 30th.
